Wonderful electroacoustic minimal recording. Some wood and other nature vibrating elements of Curico -a little chilean city-, have a reborn in Mc Abdullah`s PC. Very nice drone-like work, with violins, sax, electric guitar and percusions that go far away through vivid digital expansion.

This is an amazing record, where the electronic experimental armonic-noisy talent of Olaus Roemer, is mixed with the expressive musical forces of Thanatoloop. This is a emotive galatic voyage. Strong electronics, mixed with space guitars, and sutile violins, percussions, ocarinas and vocals, make the listener travel far away, very far away. (The translation of the title is "Far Away", and is based in a conceptual metaphor of the inmense distances in all galaxies, and the distances in humans relationships) This is the version mixed by Thanatoloop, there is another version mixed by Rodrigo Araya of Olaus Roemer, ...somwhere not known by me. Este es un disco que realmente me gusta mucho, un disco donde el talento electronico experimental, armónico-ruidista, de Olaus Roemer, es mesclado con la expresivas fuerzas musicales de Thanatoloop. Este es un emotivo viaje galáctico. Solidas electrocas, mezcladas con guitarras espaciales, y sutiles violines, percusiones, ocarinas, armonica y voces, hacen que el auditor viaje lejos, muy lejos. (El disco es titulado l.e.j.o.s., basado en una metafora conceptual de las inmensas distancias entre las galaxias, y las distancias en las relaciones humanas) Esta es la version mezclada por Thanatoloop. hay otra version mezclada por Rodrigo Araya de Olaus Roemer, ...en alguna parte desconocdia para mi. Casa abierta para carrete, una hermosa vista desde el cerro san cristobal hacia el norte. ***COMO LLEGAR****: Se baja en el "Metro Cementerios", linea de color amarillo (2), de ahí puede caminar, tomar micro o taxi, por la calle Arzobispo Valdivieso (calle que da justo al cementerio general y donde esta la entrada principal al cementerio católico) hasta la calle Aurora de Chile. De ahí sube 3 cuadras. Si camina: derecho por valdivieso -la calle es un poco culebra asi que ojo- con auroa de chile son aproximadamente 15 a 20 minutos. Si toma micro: hay que tomar en el paradero que queda por valdivieso a una cuadra de Recoleta la micro roja 017, se demora 3 a 4 minutos hasta Aurora de Chile, de ahí hay que subir caminando 3 cuadras, o tomar un taxi de subida en Samuel D. Concepto general: liberación erótica, perversión de interdictos, la fiesta, el erotismo, la locura, la crueldad, el suicidio, la muerte.
Estética: Surrealismo transgresor -Tomas de distintas iglesias con filtros de colores (cristianismo psicodelico).
Sin música -Stop Motion, empieza con la música. -Unos niños-criaturas ingresan a la iglesia (los movimientos van al compas de la musica) Rezan… arrodillados… y se les aparece la virgen -Las criaturas felices (ver como hacer gestos en stop motion) -La virgen empieza a lubricarse (se moja una estatua entre las piernas) -El muñeco de la virgen buscara transformarse en una vagina -Llega jesus, y se transforma en un pene… empieza la penetración (todo al ritmo de la musica) En las partes mas abiertas de la canción, filmaciones de una fiesta de disfraces, con desnudos Luego aparecen criaturas en la iglesia, (muñecos de fracisca robles)… e interactuan todos con todos. (ocupar dibujos de F. Pino) Proyectos de escenas: -Platon follando con la virgen, y teniendo a jesus como hijo -Una misa, donde entre todos nos comemos la carne de cristo… (comer carne) -Un pezón con sangre (ya tengo esta escena) -Escenas de carácter sadomasoquista con Evelyn Rivas La idea es que con el transcurso del tema, el video se vaya poniendo cada vez mas grotesco y duro. Hasta llegar a comer vomito. Por ahí un sadomasoquismo sangriento. Hay un corte con Sitar, ahí habra un corte “luminosos”, y se filmara al sitar en un estado de nirvana… en la “naturaleza”, para luego, junto al quiebre radical de la canción, filmarlo lamiendo los pies de una mujer, o algo de un carácter grotesco. El video tiene que irse saturando, pues la canción tiene ese caracter, y todo termina en un quiebre, que puede ser un atropello, una muerte…
El Templo Sagital con otras notables colaboraciones, esta llevando a cabo la puesta en escena de un obra de teatro schockeante. This is a split from two chilean dark-surrealistic experimental proyect. Thanatoloop in this split give some kind of hiperdepressive piano-voice-noise songs, with some harsh and violent interludes. The first song was recorded in a complete state of radical angst. D`Four Me is a terrorific electro industrial noise psychedelic duo. Here you can find the hard "Legion", and the soft but ofensive "Gatos y ratoncitos" (Cats and little mouses).

This is good, a good dosis of sonic horror. This duo, male female, do a very well worked electronic with crazy voices. They really deserves the worldwide attention of hard electronics music lovers. In this abums you can find a dynamic voyage of some kind of terrorific electronic psychedelia. Here you can go from a calm perturbated digital drone, to a power electronic kick in the ass (with insane screams)... also times of truly dark psychedelia... a horrorific psychological sonic drowning, childish voices... and violent bestial noises!

If this December newsletter drifts becomes incoherent at any point then I will not apologize. After a truly delightful but very intense tour of USA, two of us ventured to Chile just 13 days ago. We played 3 shows there (2 in Santiago and one in Valparaiso) and were treated with such kindness and met so many new friends, the experience will live on until we leave this planet.
Santiago has just about most thriving truly "underground" music scene I have personally encountered in years. Centered around the excellent Un Festin Sagital, there are a myriad of bands and artists performing, recording and experimenting.
There is just such a deep quality to the music that demands more attention than I can provide in this newsletter introduction, but I'll do my best to reveal more as time passes.
Certainly I'd move heaven and earth to see Un Festin Sagital play outside Chile. This is of the best live bands I have seen in my entire life.
Ah I could go on endlessly...but that jet lag keeps kicking in.

BIOGRAFÍA Edward Ka-Spel es un personaje tan enigmático como prolífico. Su impresionante producción musical desarrollada a lo largo de mas de veinte años abarca más de una docena trabajos en solitario, a una con la larga e innovadora trayectoria junto a The Legendary Pink Dots, además de colaboraciones con músicos canadienses (Cevin Key de SkinnyPuppy), alemanes (H.N.A.S.), norteamericanos (los populares The Dresden Dolls o la ex Swans, Jarboe) y holandeses (Strange Attractor) como invitado, o generando proyectos satélites bajo los nombres de Tear Garden, Mimir,Minizza y Dark Star entre otros. Entre todos sus proyectos, Ka-Spel ha participado en más de cincuenta discos. La carrera de Edward Ka-Spel comenzó en Londres a fines de los setenta. Sin embargo, el verdadero reconocimiento no comenzó a llegar hasta que tanto él como el resto de The Legendary Pink Dots, decididieron relocalizarse en Holanda, país desde el cual Ka-Spel ha desarrollado una carrera musical que cuenta con miles de fieles seguidores repartidos por el mundo. Enlos dias del politico 'The Tower' (que cuenta como unos mismos revolucionarios se vuelven facistas) de los Pink Dots, Ka-Spel decide aventurarse con sus primeros discos en solitario, Laugh China Doll(1984) y Eyes China Doll (1985). Estos dos primerizos trabajos, repletos de misterio, atmósferas psicodélicas y rudimentarios ritmos electrónicos (pensemos en unos Residents mas avant-pop, y con mas viseras que ironía), fueron el punto de partida para una carrera que desde aquel momento ha estado centrada en su lado creador más intimo, experimental y electrónico que lo hecho con Legendary Pink Dots. Por estos días surgieron clásicos como Suicide Pact, Lilith o Six cats in a dead man`s chest, canciones con un estilo único, y con líricas de un siniestro, pero no falto de humor vuelo imaginativo. Los próximos pasos fueron decisivos. Tres monumentales y consecutivos discos fueron la prueba del desbordante talento atesorado por Ka-Spel: Chyekk, China Doll (1986) -editado por Steven Stapleton de Nurse With Wound y Current 93-,aaAzhyd China Doll (1987) y Khataclimici China Doll (1987). Cuando ladécada de los 80 se extinguía aparece Perhaps We´ll Only See a Thin Blue Line (1989), donde de nuevo quedan plasmada la capacidad impresionante de Ka-Spel de generar una música, original, intensa, y carente de facilismos genéricos - Ka-Spel simplementese desmarca de cualquier encasillamiento, siendo imposible definir su musica sin caer en una lista casi inacabable de referencias estéticas: post industrial, psicodelia, dark, avant-garde, r.i.o, música concreta, pop, progresivo, ambient etcetc. En los noventas tanto Ka-Spel como los Pink dots pasaron a otra 'epoca', aun mas cinematografica que sus desquicios barroco-psicodelicos ochenteros. Luego de la edición de Lyvv China Doll (1990), compuesto por material envivo e inédito, Ka-Spel nos regala el magnífico Tanithand The Lion Tree(1991), dando comienzo a una década plagada dediscos-viajes.The Scriptures of Illumina (1995) refuerza la imagen de Ka-Spelcomo alquimista desonidos, demostrando una capacidad de creación denuevas fuentes sonorasque pocos músicos poseen. De Scriptures of illumina adviene Textures of Illumina (1995), disco doble, que posee gran influencia del amigo personal de Ka-Spel, Steven Stapleton, aparte de notorias influencias del a psicodelia europea mas oscura de los setenta. Su nuevo hogar discográfico, el sello y distribuidor norteamericano Soleilmoon, edita dos volúmenes entre 1995 y 97 compilatorios de material incluido en singles y primeras grabaciones: Down In the City of Heartbreak and Needles. Inmerso en grabaciones y giras junto a The Dots, su banda principal, todavía le queda tiempo para seguir editando sus cada vez mas personales documentos musicales, incrementando su inmenso legado. The Blue Room (1998) y Red Letters (1999) son dos discos de absoluta madurez, repletos de laberíntica psicodelia y bizarras ambientaciones, incluso con momentos de misterioso romanticismo, Ka-Spel es uno de los pocos músicos en este planeta que puede, orgánicamente, pasearse entre un pop amistoso e inteligente, y un vuelo surrealista, denso y volátil. Durante el 2001 se editaron tres trabajos de tiraje limitado: Needles Three, Absence of Evidence (en LP)y Angelus Obscuros, siendo éste último una de las tantas grabaciones en vivo realizadas por Edward Ka-Spel como preámbulo a los shows de Legendary Pink Dots. En el mismo año se abre una tripleta inspiradamente volátil con el esplendido Caste O' Graye Skreeens, al que le seguiría, el extrañísimo, pero seductoramente perturabador O'er aShalabast'r Tyde Strolt Ay en el 2002, la tripleta que contiene tres de sus discos màs 'extraños' se cerraría con el sutil y sublime Pieces of infinity en el 2004, siendo estos dos últimos discos los primeros en ser editados por el prestigioso sello norteamericano Beta-Lactam Ring Records (casa de uno de los mas vanguardistas de los ochentas, los mencionados Nurse With Wound, así como también de clásicos y nuevas revelaciones como son Coil, Eyeless in Gaza, Long Dead Sevens y Volcano the Bear). Pero el vuelo kaspeliano no cesa, y en el 2005 nos entrega tres discos!... el experimento concreto Oh Darkness! oh darkness! ohdarkness!, el espacial Fragments of Illumina, y el magnifico, y el mas tendiente al talento unico de Ka-Spel para hacer canciones, A Long Red Ladder to the Moon. El año pasado Ka-Spel nos entrega uno de sus discos mas controvertidos, Dream Logik part 1, un vuelo surrealista, en el que una base hip hop industrial puede desembocar en todo un ejercicio de música concreta, y en un vuelo minimalista-krautrock, con un sin fin de detalles que no pararía jamás de describir en palabras. ¿Y este año?...pues este incansable genio no nos a dado menos que tres discos mas!, la segunda parte de Dream Logik, la tercera y un disco instrumental The Painted River of Regrets. La música de Edward Ka-Spel no tiene paralelo. Es un mundo aparte lleno de insondables misterios y viajes cósmicos a nuestro espacio interior. M. Que se siente estar haciendo música por mas de 25 años? Alguna vez te cansaste?
E-La música es algo de lo cual es imposible cansarse, no importa cuanto la hayas hecho o escuchado. A veces llegas a puntos ciegos, lugares donde no sabes como regresar, pero la puerta siempre se abre, cual intervención divina.
M. De seguro tu notas que tu música es original, con un carácter unico, que nos puedes decir de eso?
E-Es personal. Yo solo me pongo a mi mismo en lo que creo, todos mis lados, el bueno, el malo, incluso el feo. Ningún hombre es igual a otro, supongo que eso se refleja en la música.
M. Vez alguna relación entre los sueños y la música? Pareciera que tú tienes sueños bastante vividos.
E-De alguna manera yo lo provoco. Yo tiendo a dormir con la radio prendida, dejando que los sucesos del mundo impregnen mis sueños en vela. A veces pueden ser perturbadores, pero por lo general bastante vividos.
M. Siempre noto que en las reviews de tu música te sienten como un artista muy siniestro. ¿Qué piensas de eso?
E-¿Siniestro? No, lo siento, no estoy de acuerdo con eso, Georges Bush, Cheney, eso es ser siniestro, yo solo soy yo mismo, y tengo mi lado oscuro, pero no es mi entera personalidad.
M. En todo tu trabajo musical hay un notorio carácter infantil. ¿Qué piensas de los niños y la niñez?
E- Tengo cuatro hijos, y son maravillosos, mucho más accesibles que los adultos, los que muchas veces tienden aterrorizarme.
M. ¿Erotismo, crees que tu música es erótica? Me refiero en un sentido profundo. ¿Ves relaciones entre música y erotismo?
E- Por cierto, hay una profunda conexión entre erotismo y sensibilidad. Me gusta pensar que mi música pulsa una cuerda profunda en los oyentes.
M. ¿Ultimas palabras para los que te esperan con expectación en Chile?
E- El entusiasmo es mutuo, agradezco tener la suerte de poder vivir esta especie de aventura musical en Chile.

This is the debut of Thanatoloop, the central proyect of Michel Leroy, who play a lot of instruments in U.F.S., something that he also do in Thanatoloop, playing diferent instruments to get a surrealistic postindustrial masterpiece. A progressive chaos, an emotive and psychedelic trip. This is a “mostly electronic” album, with complex and very gloomy-wierd compositions, mixed with a surrealistic use of noises. This album also have more than one semi-neo classical-self-teach moment, like a son of Throbbing Gristle, Klaus Schulze and Arvö Part. This is a deranged mental-nerves travel inducer.

This is an album with a Thanatoloop live show (tallersol 2007), and with along track with two parts -Sacrificio / ¡Oh Dios!-. The first part is a wierd acoustic live music, with more folk-noise versions of the songs of Thanatoloop, with also a Pétalo Bisturí auto-cover, and two gloomy songs still non recorded in studio. Well, here you can find some artpop folk moments, mixed with some agressive noise prog folk attack,also a semi childish song can get satanic and RIO… an then? a chaotic impro, free jazzy, a very noisy storm that takes the album to a sad song that ask about the relation between being born and fuck. The song recorded in studio is a bizarre electroacoustic folky semi resident and semi neo classical psych opus of two parts.

Imagine Antony and the Johnsons making a cover of Tear Garden`s “AscencionDay”, and then remixed by Andrew Liles or NWW… and then with some collaboration of Sopor Aeternus without the ensamble of shadows. Then, a long live impro of Thanatoloop and friends, with a lot of psych organ drawning, in a sea of great ethnics and industrial percussions, and of course, noise, a lot of sick electroacoustic noises. The last song, “La Serpiente Niña” is an outtake of “VioladorViolado”, a VERY good one…some goth feeling get disco, get psych, get RIO, get hot, and diiiirty.

This is an amazing album!!! This multiinstrumental solo proyect is really A WORLD, a musical trip, from a great psychedelic groove to a more minimal and noisy moments, with also some electro prog rock attack. With this album you can dance, get high, get low, cry, smile, laugh, hate and love.
A strange, emotive and very unique live recording of Thanatoloop, who is also part of Un Festín Sagital. This songs came from two shows, one is the funerART drone/doom fest, and the other the electro/acoustic Retrofuturistic fest. Close to what? Simon Finn, Fad Gadget, Current 93, Edward Ka-Spel, the more toxic Violeta Parra, Alvarius B, Nick Cave, TG, Residents, Coil, Electrodomesticos (early), Leonard Cohen, etc... dark, but not without humour and groooove.
This is an amazing record, where the electronic experimental armonic-noisy talent of Olaus Roemer, is mixed with the expressive musical forces of Thanatoloop. This is an emotive galatic voyage. Strong electronics, mixed with space guitars, and sutile violins, percussions, ocarinas and vocals, make the listener travel far away, very far away. (The translation of the title is "Far Away", and is based in a conceptual metaphor of the inmense distances in all galaxies, and the distances in humans relationships)

Este es un emotivo viaje galáctico. Solidas electrocas, mezcladas con guitarras espaciales, y sutiles violines, percusiones, ocarinas, armonica y voces, hacen que el auditor viaje lejos, muy lejos. (El disco es titulado l.e.j.o.s., basado en una metafora conceptual de las inmensas distancias entre las galaxias, y las distancias en las relaciones humanas)

Fueron grabadas por un Thanatoloop de entre 13 y 17 años. Esta es una música eclectica, cruda y extraña. En esos tiempos lo más denso de The Cure, Joy Division, Nick Cave, Birthday Party, Los Jorobados, Scratch Acid, NIN, Skinny Puppy, Sisters of Mercy, Christian Death, Cabaret Voltaire, Einsturzende Neubauten, se mezclaban por un gusto por el free jazz y la música concreta... y bueno, inegablemente se notan estas influencias.

This is a VERY special live recording of some kind of gothic power electronics, gothic in the sense of the art that show the christian horror... Satanic? Not exactly, we are not doing any attack, we like Christ and all thier saints... only we also like sex and our bodies. This is not another noise cliche shit, this is special, a true sonic erotic ritual!

Esta es una MUY especial grabacion en vivo, una especie de power electronic gótico, pero entendiendo gótico como el arte de mostrar el horror cristiano (no el arte de ir a la blondie con uniforme vampiresco). Satanico? No exactamente, aqui no hay ataque, nos gusta Cristo y sus santos, pero tambien nos gusta el sexo y nuestros cuerpos. Esto no es otra mierda noise cliché, esto es especial, un verdadero y erotico ritual sonico!

This is a split from two chilean dark-surrealistic experimental proyect. Thanatoloop in this split give some kind of hiperdepressive piano-voice-noise songs, with some harsh and violent interludes. The first song was recorded in a complete state of radical angst. D`Four Me is a terrorific electro industrial noise psychedelic duo. Here you can find the hard "Legion", and the soft but ofensive "Gatos y ratoncitos" (Cats and little mouses).

This is the debut of the central proyect of TS, Un Festín Sagital -U.F.S.-. This is a very special album, a very bizarre voyage through differents musical moods. In this hour of music, you can find wierd psych, goth, R.I.O., post-punk, electroacoustics, jazz rock, improrock, industrial…but almost all ORIGINALITY. A nice musical character have this album, recorded in 2004, with analogue equipments, and with one alive mix. PHARMAKON means at the same time, cure and poison, and that paradoxical sense-nosense is also in the music of this album, like a chaotic identity; an absurd-surreal, but also very organic voyage.

This is the debut of Thanatoloop, the central proyect of Michel Leroy, who play a lot of instruments in U.F.S., something that he also do in Thanatoloop, playing diferent instruments to get a surrealistic postindustrial masterpiece. A progressive chaos, an emotive and psychedelic trip. This is a “mostly electronic” album, with complex and very gloomy-wierd compositions, mixed with a surrealistic use of noises. This is an album with a Thanatoloop live show (tallersol 2007), and with along track with two parts -Sacrificio / ¡Oh Dios!-. The first part is a wierd acoustic live music, with more folk-noise versions of the songs of Thanatoloop, with also a Pétalo Bisturí auto-cover, and two gloomy songs still non recorded in studio. Well, here you can find some artpop folk moments, mixed with some agressive noise prog folk attack,also a semi childish song can get satanic and RIO… an then? a chaotic impro, free jazzy, a very noisy storm that takes the album to a sad song that ask about the relation between being born and fuck. The song recorded in studio is a bizarre electroacoustic folky semi resident and semi neo classical psych opus of two parts.

Imagine Antony and the Johnsons making a cover of Tear Garden`s “AscencionDay”, and then remixed by Andrew Liles or NWW… and then with some collaboration of Sopor Aeternus without the ensamble of shadows. Then, a long live impro of Thanatoloop and friends, with a lot of psych organ drawning, in a sea of great ethnics and industrial percussions, and of course, noise, a lot of sick electroacoustic noises. The last song, “La Serpiente Niña” is an outtake of “VioladorViolado”, a VERY good one…some goth feeling get disco, get psych, get RIO, get hot, and diiiirty.
